Knitting season has arrived

Blanket in progress

Yes, the time has come. I’ve looked through my yarn stash and my pattern pile and this is my big winter project: a double blanket for my bed.

The colours come from the amazing Lucy of Attic24 and her woodland yarn pack. I can crochet, but knitting is my first love, so I decided on a relatively simple feather-and-fan stitch to recreate the ripple she designed into her original blanket, and I’m following her stripe pattern as I can’t hope to imagine up something anywhere near as good. I can knit and crochet, I love colours, but choosing the right colours and sorting an order that looks really good is beyond me.

I’m preparing to get going on handmade gifts for Christmas, mostly they will be food but one or two will be yarn based.

As far as the allotment goes, the growing season is pretty well over, and the winter work is starting. Mainly it’s about preparing beds, planting one or two things that need to winter in the ground, insulating the greenhouse, mulching some plants, all that sort of stuff. Not glamorous, but needful if the coming years crops are to be any good.

With that, I’ll pour myself a fresh coffee and keep going!
