The big meeting

We were up bright and early on Saturday morning and had time to enjoy an easy breakfast before Mum and Dad and Paul showed up just after 11.

It was just as well they didn’t show up as early as I had originally suggested, it was so warm that eating indoors would have been criminal, so the lawn mower had to come out so the prairie actually looked like a lawn.

I think the most nervy bit was waiting for mum and dad to turn up and hoping like crazy that everyone would get on. I needn’t have worrried. Everyone was great.

Mum did what she does best, helping me sort food while dad did the macho thing with the barbecue. We went with potato salad, coleslaw style salad and barbecued chicken, followed by cold drinks and chilling in the garden.

The conversation was very wide ranging, going from work to health to hobbies and pretty much everything in between too. As you might expect, there was a fair bit of geekery going on with 3 laptops and my PC between 5 people, one of whom (mum) was quite happy to sit and read a magazine with her feet up and let everyone else play at technology.

Mum, dad and Paul didn’t leave til half past nine, pretty late really, but we all concluded that it was great, we’d all enjoyed meeting and talking and eating.

Dan and I locked up and watched TV til our eyes closed and then fell asleep. As you do.
